Meyer Turku has made a donation to the Baltic Sea foundation Baltic Sea Action Group (BSAG). The donation supports the foundation’s work for the Baltic Sea and the protection of marine nature. The organizations are also exploring opportunities to deepen their cooperation through practical projects.
As part of its sustainability strategy, Meyer Turku — which designs and builds some of the world’s most advanced cruise ships — has decided to support BSAG’s marine conservation work.
“Concern for the Baltic Sea is something we all share. As shipbuilders, we work every day to reduce the environmental impacts related both to vessels and to the shipyard. BSAG carries out high-quality, diverse and impactful marine conservation work, and we see clear synergies with our own activities. We want to be part of that work,” says Hanna Haaksi, Sustainability Manager at Meyer Turku.

The Baltic Sea Action Group (BSAG) works to save the Baltic Sea and its unique marine environment. The foundation bases its work on scientific research and seeks solutions to the root causes of ecological crises – both on land and at sea. BSAG promotes regenerative agriculture, develops responsible maritime practices, protects marine biodiversity and works to reduce the water impacts of forestry.
“Cooperation is a prerequisite for our success. We actively participate in national and international initiatives aimed at improving the sustainability of the entire maritime industry and shipbuilding sector. We work closely with actors in the Finnish maritime cluster, as well as with research and educational institutions and regional development companies. We also actively create opportunities for current and future employees of Meyer Turku and our partner network to contribute to building a more sustainable future. We will now begin exploring ways to expand this cooperation also towards BSAG,” Haaksi says.
